Myths say that when Goddess Satidevi died, Lord Shiva Ji carried her deceased body and roamed around the Universe unconscious. And Shree Muktinath Sukla Gandaki Chyawan Dham is the place where he rested. People have been worshipping Lord Shiva in this place for centuries and have also established a Shiva Linga inside the temple.

People believe that the holy serpents and shamans walk by the trail of Shree Muktinath Sukla Gandaki Dham. Moreover, it is believed that visiting this temple is equivalent to visiting the main Muktinath Temple in Mustang District.

Apart from the temple, the locals have built a Gompa, and a local committee runs it. The temple and monastery sit by the Rock Garden, a beautiful natural stream of the Seti River.
